Fundraising

Fundraising helps San Jose Parents Participating Nursery School keep tuition low and fund school improvements, curriculum, field trips, scholarships, and more. Our approach is to offer SJPPNS members a wide range of fun, family-oriented fundraising activities that support the community spirit that is so much a part of the school philosophy.

The only mandatory requirement is that each family support the fundraising activities by working a single 3-hour work shift at one of the fundraising events during the school year. These are fun, social events that bring the families of the school together, all while raising money!  Members are never required to cold-call, canvas or solicit the general public for funds.

I had a lot of fun working a stall at the Fall Festival. It was an easy 3 hour shift, working with friends. My family came down to enjoy the fun and games and meet some of the other Mom’s and Dad’s of the school.

Events

Fall Festival

The annual SJPPNS carnival is the school’s largest family activity and a fantastic, fun way for SJPPNS families to get together on the weekend. Fall Festival attendees can enjoy food, beverages, live entertainment, face painting, chili cooking competition, crafts, a book sale, and lots of homemade games appropriate for preschoolers.

Dining NightS Out

Dining Nights Out are a great way to enjoy local restaurants and support SJPPNS at the same time. Parents will receive flyers promoting the event and should present it to the restaurant when dining in OR taking out. SJPPNS will receive a portion of the proceeds from the evening’s receipts.

Hicklebee's Books & An Evening at Hicklebee's

1378 Lincoln Ave, San Jose, CA

Throughout the year, purchase books at Hicklebee's in Downtown Willow Glen and mention SJPPNS.  A percentage of the sales will be applied to our fundraising program with them. Also, each year before the holiday shopping season, we have an adults only evening at Hicklebee's. Valerie, the owner of Hicklebee's, shares her top 50 children's books with all of us. Afterwards, we have an opportunity to shop with 10% of all sales going back to SJPPNS in the form of an in store credit. It is a great night, not to be missed!

Annual Auction

The Annual Auction is a lively, adults-only evening filled with fun, community, and celebration! Each year features a unique theme that sets the stage for an unforgettable night of connection and generosity. Guests can bid on an incredible selection of items and experiences, all generously donated by local businesses and community members. Children’s artwork will be on display and will be available for purchase. Traditionally, each SJPPNS class puts together a themed gift basket which generate lots of excitement amongst auction bidders. This is our biggest event of the year, so we hope to see everyone there!

Touch-A-Truck

The Touch-A-Truck event is a fun way for SJPPNS families and the local community to get together and experience our favorite vehicles including fire trucks, buses, garbage trucks, vintage cars, military vehicles and even a police helicopter! Arts and crafts and many hands on activities are offered at this fabulous event.

How can I get involved?

SJPPNS is supported by a number of other fundraising initiatives which members and even extended family and friends can participate in and some of them require almost no extra effort!

Amazon Smile

Amazon now offers a program called AmazonSmile.  If you make purchases from Amazon, you could help our school.

To enroll in AmazonSmile:

  • Go to http://smile.amazon.com/ch/94-1539262 and sign into your Amazon account

  • Start shopping! Anything marked "smile eligible" will automatically profit our school.

  • Bookmark smile.amazon.com and make sure you're logged into AmazonSmile when you make your Amazon purchases.

  • Once enrolled, you will earn 0.5% of the purchase price for our school. Most purchases are "smile" eligible, and it does not affect the purchase price or whether or not the purchase is Prime. This is also an easy way to allow extended family to help earn money for our school.

For more information, you can read their FAQ at http://smile.amazon.com/about

The Holiday Giving Program

The Holiday Giving Program reaches out to the greater SJPPNS family, giving them the chance to be involved and help out where they can by making one-off monetary donations.  It's a totally online, crowd-sourcing fundraiser, with the goal to raise the money for specific needs around the school, like replacing faulty equipment.

eScrip

eScrip is a fantastic resource for SJPPNS fundraising. SJPPNS members register any of their existing grocery loyalty, debit, and credit cards for use in the program. Participating merchants contribute a percentage of the transactions to SJPPNS, based on purchases made by members using the cards they have registered. Members can also encourage extended family members such as grandparents and aunts and uncles to register their cards. All information sent to eScrip is safe and secure — if you have questions about privacy or security visit the eScrip frequently asked questions site.
To sign up to participate in eScrip:

  1. visit www.escrip.com and click on “sign up”,

  2. designate SJPPNS as the school to receive the contributions (our ID is 137137073),

  3. register your credit or debit cards.

SJPPNS is always exploring new ways to reach out to its community and welcomes new ideas & input of their members.  Fundraising is not limited to the above programs, if you'd like to make a contribution, checks can be made out to SJPPNS.
