Sharon joined SJPPNS in the summer of 2005 after 25 successful years as a Vice President, buyer, manager, and business owner in the retail industry. After experiencing SJPPNS as a participating parent, Sharon realized her passion for children and the importance of the education of young children. Sharon has a BA degree in Art History and a Directorship Certificate in Early Childhood Education.

In 2007, Sharon received an "Award of Merit" from the California Council of Participation Nursery Schools for her dedication to the education of young children and adults. Sharon strongly believes in the co-op, play-based philosophy of learning for young children. "Not only does the child develop to their fullest potential through exploration and discovery, the parents have the benefit of learning about the development of their children through their participation and education. This experience stays with the child and helps to build a strong foundation for their continuing education. It also builds a community of parents who remain involved in the education of their children well into their middle school years." Sharon grew up in Saratoga and lives in Willow Glen with her husband and two school aged children.

Teacher/Director: Susanne Haislet

4-Day Program: T-F 12:30pm-3:00pm
Age: 4 years by December 2nd

Susanne left the world of corporate course development and training and began teaching in her local school district in 1997. After experiencing the elementary and high school crowds she found she especially loved teaching in the state preschool.  Susanne joined San Jose Parents in 2001. Being in a co-op is natural to her. Her first experience with a co-op was in 1988, when her son was three and they joined Playmates Preschool in San Francisco, complete with a stint as secretary on the Board. She also taught for several years at Laurelwood Preschool.

Susanne holds an MA in Education with a specialty in Early Childhood Education, a BS in Organizational Behavior, a Parent Education credential, a California Program Site Director Certificate and is a certified Music Together teacher. Susanne has tutored adults and children in several reading programs and currently tutors students in High School Graduation and GED classes. Susanne believes when education is a joint venture, as in a parent cooperative, families, children and teachers share the benefits and set the stage for a lifetime love of learning.
