Fundraising helps San Jose Parents Participating Nursery School keep tuition low and fund school improvements, curriculum, field trips, scholarships, and more. Our approach is to offer SJPPNS members a wide range of fun, family-oriented fundraising activities that support the community spirit that is so much a part of the school philosophy. The school hopes that members will attend the fundraising events of their choice because they are fun and support the school. The only mandatory requirement is that each family support the fundraising activities by working a single 2-3 hour work shift at one of the fundraising events.

eScrip

eScrip is a fantastic resource for SJPPNS fundraising. SJPPNS members register any one or all of their existing grocery loyalty, debit, and credit cards for use in the program and participating merchants contribute a percentage of the transactions to SJPPNS, based on purchases made by members, just by using the cards they have registered. Members can also encourage extended family members such as grandparents and aunts and uncles to register their cards. All information sent to eScrip is safe and secure — if you have questions about privacy or security visit the eScrip frequently asked questions site.

To sign up to participate in eScrip:

  1. visit www.escrip.com and click on "sign up",
  2. designate SJPPNS as the school to receive the contributions (our ID is 137137073),
  3. register your Safeway Club Cards and your credit or debit cards.
Newsletter Advertising

SJPPNS publishes a newsletter 8 times during the school year and offers advertising opportunities for local businesses, SJPPNS members, and SJPPNS alumni to promote their products or services to the school membership. Special discounted rates are available for SJPPNS members and alumni.

Dining Nights Out

Dining nights out are great way to enjoy local restaurants and support SJPPNS at the same time. SJPNNS schedules about five dining nights throughout the school year at local restaurants. Members receive flyers in their school mailboxes promoting the event and present the flyer to the restaurant when dining in or taking out. SJPPNS receives a portion of the proceeds from the evening's receipts. This is an easy way to support the school - dine in, take out, gather with other families from your class, invite your friends and relatives!

Pancake Breakfast

The pancake breakfast is an annual tradition at SJPPNS for the whole family that really gets the school year off to a fun start. The event is held at the school and is usually scheduled in late October on a Saturday from 8:30am to 11am. Members receive an invitation in advance and are charged a small, per-person fee for breakfast. Breakfast includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausages, eggs, fruit, and hot and cold beverages. Extended families of SJPPNS members are welcome, so bring the grandparents, aunts, uncles, and all the cousins!

Holiday Family Photo Event

The holiday photo event is a new fundraising activity for the school. SJPPNS members can come to the school to get a professional quality photo taken suitable for holiday cards or gifts.

Giant Kidstravaganza! Rummage Sale

The Giant Kidstravaganza! is rapidly becoming an SJPPNS tradition. This event is a large-scale rummage sale complete with a refreshment stand. The event is held in the school parking lot and is open to SJPPNS members as well as local the community. The school sells gently-used children's toys, furniture, clothes, gear, and maternity items donated from SJPPNS members. The rummage sale is a great opportunity for members to get rid of clothes, toys, furniture, gear and more that their kids no longer need or to buy quality stuff at great prices that their kids will need as they get older. The event is held on a Saturday in April from 8am to 1pm. All unsold items are donated to a local charity.

Macy's Community Shopping Day

SJPPNS participates in Macy's annual fundraising event to benefit local non-profit organizations. Macy's provides non-profits with tickets to sell to the shopping event. Ticket holders attend the shopping day (usually in May) and use their ticket to get discounts of up to 20% on Macy's merchandise. SJPPNS members buy tickets themselves and sell tickets to friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors. The school keeps all the proceeds from SJPPNS ticket sales, plus gets a share in the proceeds from ticket sales by Macy's employees if the school sells 100 tickets or more.

Carnival and Silent Auction

The annual SJPPNS carnival and silent auction is the school's largest fundraising activity and a fantastic and fun way for SJPPNS families to close out the school year. The event is held on a Sunday in May on the school grounds from 10am to 2pm. Carnival attendees can enjoy food, beverages, dessert, live entertainment, face painting, a cake walk, crafts, and lots of homemade games appropriate for preschoolers. The silent auction offers lots of great deals from local restaurants, retail outlets, services, and handmade crafts. Traditionally, each SJPPNS class puts together a themed gift basket that generates lots of excitement amongst auction bidders. The carnival and silent auction event is a wonderful tradition that is fun for the entire family.
